When you visit www.ie7.com you won’t see a website about Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 7. Instead you’ll see a large logo of firefox, calmly telling you to “Redicover the web”. That’s right, someone bought over the domain and has put up a link to firefox.
A simple whois shows the following info about the owner:

Also http://www.msie7.com has been bought over as well. The owner has put a phpBB forum for discussing IE7. He is selling the domain name and is asking at least $2500 for it.
So a lesson Microsoft, when you announce such a large product, what’s wrong in hopping over to GoDaddy.com and just purchasing the domain name? You probably won use the domain name, but its good for you to own it.

Heh, and it looks like http://www.microsoftie7.com and http://www.microsoftinternetexplorer7.com have been registered too now, and they both as well as http://www.msie7.com seem to contain a big image promoting and linking to Firefox…go figure, sucks for Microsoft, rocks for the opensource community :D
